I won't bang on about it. Some of you know how I feel about the film. But this post is about the score. 'A character in itself'. For those of you who also appreciated it, here's Hans Zimmer and Johnny Marr’s live performance from after the premiere.

CARGO
Recently I've been tinkering about with a new portfolio, and it's just gone live. If you're interested, go have a looksee. If not, why not go to Awkward Family Photos instead?

LEARN SOMETHING EVERY DAY
A neat little site put together with cargocollective from Young studio. Random facts and interesting figures from things obscure as chicken depression to the more astute as the 169,518,829,100,544,000,000,000,000,000 ways to play the first ten moves in chess. Fascinating. All, of course, with a quirky little doodled illustration.

A TO B
Was just checking on Anthony Burrill's website - I really like his simple typographic style - and I found myself hypnotised for 3 minutes 58 seconds by this:
Pretty cool. Snake by Acid Washed. In collaboration with Jack Featherstone and Paul Plowman. (I'm sure a few of you will recognise the latter name)

VALUE
Just another quick idea. Why don't Tesco start their own publishing, and run out cheap books? Low grade recycled paper, no glossy covers or fancy embossing. Good honest simple novels without any thrills. Maybe £1 a book for classics? I'm guessing Penguin has had an effect on me here...
WELL ROUNDED
I love din. German efficiency at its best. But I know what you're thinking... 'It's nice, but it's a bit too sterile and utilitarian for this particular job'. Then how about DIN Rounded???
Albert-Jan Pool and his team redrew each letterform to maintain the structure of the original. This ensures FF DIN and FF DIN Round will work well together in logos, slogans, price tags, etc. as compatible parts of advertising campaigns and corporate identities. FF DIN Round is not only a good companion to FF DIN, its smooth and friendly curves make it work on its own for branding strategies for family cars, bikes, household appliances, sportswear, shoes, or medical products. It’s also very legible on screen and available in Web format. Get it here.

CLICHE SPOTTING
How many end of year shows have you been to recently?
Spot any recurring themes? I know I did. Here's a handy app/old skool pdf to help you keep track of them.
I have to say, I'm rather proud of my home town for being the most cliched.

A POINT WELL MADE
Dear Futura, I love you - but you can seem a bit too starched from time to time. Justin David Cox seems to agree. I'm guessing it's meant to look like an envelope, but if not I still like. He adds "Please note that calling Paul Renner lazy is supposed to be so absurd that it can’t be taken seriously. That said I still think the C is the weak point of the most beautiful typeface ever created." Check out his blog here.
