TAKING PHOTOS

I was given a photography brief today. Basically, I walked around Oxford taking photos of bits and bobs, and I'm using jamblog to present them for the tutor to see.

My idea/plan was to photograph anything that struck me. Be it beautiful, funny, ugly, etc. While I was waiting for the train, I made a list of words which I wanted to try and concentrate on throughout the day. Message, Type, Texture, and Negative-Space.

I've always been fascinated by the way we're bombarded with infomation, especially text. I like looking for the hidden beauty in the little details, which most people overlook and probably wouldn't consider. (I'm sure most of our readers feel the same)

D-LUX

Feast your eyes on the new, limited edition, Leica D-Lux 4 Safari!

Lush, right? This sexy little number boasts 10mp, a 3'' lcd, optical stabilizer (for those bumpy safari jeeps), f/2.0-2.8 DC Vario-Summicron ASPH high speed, extra-wide-angle 24-60mm equivalent zoom lens (for you camera geeks), face detection, an intelligent fully automatic shooting mode, and you can even shoot in raw. Sweet! And it comes with this cool bag.

Get yours here.

Edit - I have recently been informed that this is infact a rebadged Panasonic LX3. Still sexy, none-the-less.

TIMES A CHANGIN'

Oh my lord. I almost just bust a nut over an e-mail I just received! Frutiger, Sabon, Trade Gothic, Optima, Palatino, Eurostile, Avenir, Univers... I spent three years in a studio without using much else (apart from the obvious). And what's gone and happened, they've updated them all to have opentype features, extended family weights, true italics, small caps, and with a slightly more modern cuts and feel to them. Amazing. Better yet, they haven't been totally basterdized, and still keep the true and original look from the great designers that made them (hats off to ol' Herman). All availabe in LinoTypes Platinum collection.
